Appeal for witnesses after two people seriously injured during collision at Birchwood

POLICE have launched an appeal for witnesses after two people were seriously injured, one critical, following a serious collision at Birchwood earlier this week.

The collision occurred at around at 10.09 am on Tuesday 30 August, when police were called to a one-vehicle collision on Ordnance Avenue, Birchwood at the roundabout by the fire station.

The driver, a 68-year-old man, is currently in hospital with serious injuries. The passenger, a 66-year-old woman, is in a critical condition.

Sgt Andy Dennison said: “I’d urge anyone who witnessed the collision but has not yet spoken to police, or anyone with dashcam footage, to get in touch.”

The incident involved the air ambulance being called out and the closure of the road.
