Firefighters tackle deliberate fires in disused well and wooded area

FIRE crews from Warrington were called out last night to tackle a deliberate fire in an abandoned well near Dallam and a woodland fire at Orford.

AT 18:49 one crew from Warrington was called out to reports of a fire off Cromwell Avenue near Dallam.

A fire was found in a shallow abandoned well in a field off Cromwell Avenue. The attending crew shuttled water from a nearby pond to extinguish the fire and dampen down the internal walls of the well.
Police were informed as it is believed the fire was started deliberately.

Then at 21:12 one crew from Warrington was called to reports of a fire off Alder Lane, near Orford Park.
A hose reel jet was used to put out a fire, believed to have been started deliberately, in woods off Alder Lane. Police were informed of the incident.
