Aldi apply for permission to demolish car dealership showroom

DISCOUNT food retailer Aldi has applied for planning consent to demolish the Arnold Clark car dealership building on the Gemini Retail Park at Warrington.

The application comes some seven months after Aldi revealed plans to open a new store at Gemini.

At that time, they said the new store would replace the Arnold Clark building, off Europa Boulevard – subject to planning consent.
The company held a virtual exhibition at the end of January as part of a public consultation.
Residents were able to view the plans and provide feedback via an online questionnaire.

If approved, the proposal will create up to 40 new full and part-time jobs .
The proposal is likely to be considered by Warrington Borough Council planning officers, under delegated powers, unless there is major opposition from the public or the scheme is “called in” by a member of the council.
