UPDATED: A travellers encampment left the Longshaw Street playing fields earlier today – and promptly moved across the road to the Bewsey and Dallam Community Hub car park.

The travellers had arrived at the Longshaw Street playing fields at Dallam on Wednesday evening, just over a week after an encampment vacated the site.

Four caravans and associated vehicles were reported on the site, which is due to be the venue for a charity fund-raising rugby match this weekend.

A total of 16 caravans vacated the field last week after being served a police notice.
After being moved off the playing fields earlier today they set up an authorised encampment on the car park at the Bewsey & Dallam Community Hub.
Efforts are continuing to move them on as they blocked the car park.

Local rugby team Bank Quay Bulls ARLFC who were impacted by the arrival of the illegal encampment on the Longshaw Street playing fields are planning to go ahead with a fund-raising event tomorrow ((Aug 6) in memory of Alan ‘Bundy’ Clare, who died aged 34, after falling from a balcony in Spain in 2013 while on a stag do.

A Warrington Borough Council spokesperson said previously: “We are aware of the encampment and are working with partner agencies to remove the group from the field. We will support with the necessary cleaning of the site once the group has left. We are also aware of the charity day planned for Saturday and will liaise with the club.”

Meanwhile, an encampment of seven caravans on the overspill car park at Jubilee Hub has been given further permission to remain on site until August 8, pending further review.
