Home cinema extension rejected by planners

PLANNING chiefs at Warrington have refused permission for a house extension involving a home cinema on the grounds it would result in a loss of privacy for a neighbour at the rear of the property.

The scheme in Stocks Lane, Penketh involved a two-storey side and rear extension at the house following the removal of a rear conservatory.
A lounge/cinema room would be included in the side extension while a kitchen and utility room would be in the rear extension. At first floor level, there would be two additional bedrooms.

Warrington Borough Council Officers decided the proposed extension, due to its projection from the rear elevation and the location of first-floor windows would lead to a loss of residential amenity for the neighbour at the rear because of overlooking and loss of privacy.
There were no objections from neighbours nor from Penketh Parish Council.
