Nine miles of congestion on M62 following lorry fire

MOTORISTS are being advised to allow longer journey times following a lorry fire on the M62 during the early hours of this morning, resulting in nine miles of congestion.

The M62 eastbound was currently blocked between J19 Middleton and J20 Rochdale due to the vehicle fire.

Lanes 1 and 2 (of 3) remain closed while a complex vehicle recovery is ongoing. There is approx. 9 miles of congestion on the approach, causing delays of 45 minutes above usual journey times.
