Grappers strengthen their position at the top of the table

GRAPPENHALL’S winning run continued as they strengthened their position at the top of the RSK Cheshire County League division one table with a 76-run victory at home to Macclesfield.
Title rivals Cheadle were held to a draw for the second week running which left them on 280 points, compared to Grappenhall’s 298.
Grappers batted first and skipper Pete Barnes led the way with a fine 42. Grant Hodnett hit 34 and Albert Penning 47 not out while Ben Bodha chipped in with 31 not out as the side reached 190-4 before declaring.
Macclesfield were bowed out for 114 in 34.4 overs with Pennington taking 6-40 to cap an outstanding all-round performance.
Grappenhall 2nd were held to a draw at Macclesfield after batting first and declaring on 231-6. Steve Rooney top scoring with 95.
Macclesfield were never in the hunt, but held on to finish on 171-8, Grappers’ bowlers sharing the wickets between them.
Grappenhall 3rds match at home to Bramhall was abandoned after two overs, with Grappers on three without loss.
Warrington lost by 101 runs at Davenham after the home side had batted first and hammered 223-2 declared in just 34 overs.
The visitors were dismissed for 122 in 30.4 overs with skipper James Rudd, 20, top scoring.
Warrington 2nd won by four wickets when they took on Davenham at Walton Lea.
The visitors were asked to bat first and were bowled out for 136, Rohan Gadepalli taking 4-17 and Jonjo Fagan-Hall 3-32.
Warrington replied with 138-6, Rishek Manta hitting 42 and Tusha Mahambrey 37 not out.
In the UKFast Cheshire League, Lymm Oughtrington Park lost by seven wickets at Northwich.
Put in first, they struggled to 102 all out, with most of the runs coming from the lower order.
Northwich had little trouble reaching their target for the loss of three wickets.
Appleton lost at Middlewich after being bowled out for 93, 30 of which came from the bat of Josh Coghlan.
The home side lost just one wicket on their way to victory.
Appleton 2nd won by five wickets, at home to Middlewich. The visitors hit 140-8 in 40 overs with Joe Cooper taking 4-22.
Ian Richards hit 50 to get Appleton’s reply off to a good start and Jonathan Owens added 30 not out as they claimed a comfortable victory.
Appleton 4th went down at Barrow after totalling a disappointing 79, opener David Hurst hitting 20.
The home side coasted to 83-3 in the 23 over.
Glazebury were bowled out for 67 at Winsford and the home side coasted to victory by five wickets – four of which went to Kyle Keeble, who finished with 4-35.
Simon Green took 3-13 as Glazebury 2nd inflicted a four wicket victory on Warrington 4th.
James Short top scored with 28 for Warrington as they were restricted to 95-7.
Srinivas Vallabhanani led the way with 32 in Glazebury’s winning total of 99-6.
Alex Steward, 4-20, was the pick of Warrington’s bowlers.
