THE campaign group opposing Warrington Borough Council’s controversial Central 6 low traffic schemes has launched their own website as they prepare for a peaceful protest march on Saturday.
The website www.notocentral6.org ‘The Official Website for the Warrington Residents Opposition to the Central 6 Street Plan Campaign’ has gone live just in time for the peaceful protest march from Orford Park to Victoria Park.
Campaign spokesperson Rachael Harper said: “We wanted a place where people could find all the necessary information regarding the street plan in accessible way, particularly those who are not on social media.
“Politics on a local and national level can be very confusing but our campaign relies on everybody being given access to information and also democracy. That means reaching people in as many different ways as possible.
“We are expecting at least 150 if not more to turn up to our march to show their opposition to the central 6 street plan. We’re expecting to have some pre-march activities from 1pm which will include music, face painting, balloons and light entertainment.
“After we finish the march at about 3:30pm in Victoria Park, we’re then heading to a post-march get-together at the Cheshire Cheese pub who has kindly offered their venue and a buffet in support of our cause.”
Rachael added: “We are doing everything possible to ensure the council know that we’re still here, we’re still watching/ waiting and we still expect them to respect democracy. That involves not only giving all of us a say on this street plan but acting on justifiable concerns. The Westy survey just launched on Monday is a nice start but it’s only small when compared to the grand scale of frustration felt by a lot of residents.
“At the March, we’ll also be highlighting our public vote of no confidence in Warrington Borough Council in regard to the central 6 street plan. They keep asking for feedback and yet effectively doing nothing to address concerns. It’s just not good enough. Our petition for the public vote of no confidence now has about 2500 signatures from all across Warrington and it continues to grow. We may even bring some paper petitions to the march and get people to sign as we go passed!!”

You mean road users? No such thing as a rat run on accessible roads as long as you don’t drive like a jerk! Unless you just don’t believe in democracy? Or perhaps you think rats don’t deserve a say? Either way says more about you!
That’s the whole point, thousands every day drive like idiots. And yes I do believe in Democracy but the council have all the data and they need to act. The convenience of people who do not even live in the area should not be the key factor.
Then people need educating on house to drive otherwise they’ll just continue to drive badly on other roads, but hey I’m presuming that doesn’t affect you does it?? Democracy does not rely on facts and data but putting those facts and data to people then informing, engaging and asking for their input. The council have not done this correctly!!
