Fire crews called out to deliberate fires in local parks

FIREFIGHTERS were called out twice yesterday to tackle deliberate fires in local parks.

Shortly after 6pm, once crew from Birchwood was called out to a fire in Sankey Valley Park.
Firefighters used water backpacks and one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire that had been started deliberately.

Earlier at around 5:30 pm a crew from Birchwood was called out to Woolston Park.
Firefighters used a water backpack to extinguish a small fire that was believed to have been set deliberately.
