Warrington desperate to turn the tide against Hull City on Friday

Warrington have been struggling to find their feet in recent weeks and they will be desperate to turn the corner when they entertain Hull FC at the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Friday evening.

With fifteen rounds of the 2022 Super League campaign having been played, Warrington find themselves struggling in the lower echelons of the table with just five wins to their name. The Wire followed a 4-40 thrashing by Leeds at the Halliwell Jones Stadium earlier this month with a closely-fought 30-24 defeat at Wakefield Trinity last time out and Daryl Powell will be looking for better things when his men take on a Hull FC side which were thumped by Catalans last time out.

Warrington’s defeat at Belle Vue last weekend was their fifth loss on the bounce, the visitors taking the lead on four occasions but finding themselves pegged back each time by the hosts who went into the lead for the first time in the 77th minute through a Kelepi Tanginoa try.

Warrington got the first points on the board after 14 minutes despite early pressure from the home side with Daryl Clarke finding a way through and scoring a try which was converted by Stefan Ratchford, however Wakefield pulled level soon after with James Batchelor taking advantage of Warrington’s failure to deal with Lino’s high kick in the 19th minute. Lino kicked for the extras here but the visitors once again took the lead in the 34th minute courtesy of a well-timed break from Gareth Widdop, the conversion being taken by Stefan Ratchford.

The home side wasted no time in pulling themselves level once again with Matty Ashurst managing to seize onto a pass from Jacob Miller to score the game’s fourth try, Line once again converting to make the scoreline 12 apiece heading into the break.

A similar pattern continued at the start of the second half with Connor Wrench scoring the visitors’ third and Ratchford converting before the home side once again drew level through the efforts of Batchelor and Lino. An interception by Matty Ashton provided the Wire with their fourth of the game and once again, Ratchford made it a 100% record with the boot.

Again, the visitors were unable to hold onto this lead and they were undone with further Wakefield tries from Liam Hood and Tanginoa in the closing minutes, Lino converting on both occasions.

Having lost their last five games with just two wins since February, Warrington will be desperate to bounce back against Hull FC on Friday evening and despite their poor recent form, most rugby betting sites make the home side odds-on favourites to secure a much-needed victory in front of the ever-expectant home fans.

Warrington’s home form has been little to write home about with defeats to Wigan (22-40), St Helens (10-12) and Leeds (4-40) in the lead-up to their meeting with the Airlie Birds. Daryl Powell will be anxious to put this dismal run to bed on Friday evening and with the visitors winless in the league since March, he may have plenty of reason to be optimistic.

After fifteen rounds of Super League fixtures, Hull FC sit six points above Warrington and while they have won three of their last five, their apparent travel sickness makes us confident that the Wire can end their losing run this weekend. The leading bookmakers are focusing on this important match with many firms offering a range of rugby league free bets and other promotions such as enhanced odds and cash-back offers.

On the back of their poor recent form, Warrington’s odds on winning the Super League Grand Final have drifted even further to as much as 33/1 and in fairness it’s extremely difficult to envisage them pulling their way back after such a poor start to the campaign. Nevertheless, those backing the Wire to pull something special out of the bag would do well to take advantage of The Pools free bet offer which is a great way to get started with one of the leading bookmakers in the UK.

With the first half of the 2022 season out of the way, Warrington are positioned fourth from bottom in the Super League table and level on points with Salford and Wakefield Trinity who both sit below the Wire on account of their inferior score difference. Toulouse sit rock bottom with just two wins to their name and a points total of four.

As far as the Grand Final is concerned, the smart money is very much on St Helens here and it’s hard to escape the conclusion that they will be lifting aloft the trophy at the end of the season, Saints currently priced at Evens to go all the way this season. Catalans are next in the betting at a general 7/2 while Wigan are a 4/1 punt to make it a Challenge Cup/ Grand Final double this year.

The only other genuine contenders in this market are fourth-placed Huddersfield who are as low as 8/1 to take the prize, while Hull FC complete the top five in the betting at a general 20/1.

With much of the 2022 Super League season left to play, many of the leading rugby betting sites are offering a wide range of offers and competitive odds on numerous betting markets.
