Volunteers help seniors celebrate Jubilee

0

LYMM Youth & Community Centre held one of the village’s first Platinum Jubilee events recently for its seniors who attend a regular monthly “social” at the Centre.

Like all the activities at the Centre it was run entirely by volunteers with these social events also receiving regular support in the form of food and drink from the local Co-op.

The senior socials take place on the third Wednesday of every month from 1.30 to 3.30pm. As well as afternoon tea there is a range of activities from bingo to visiting speakers or occasional short film shows. If you would like to come along or know of someone who may benefit from and enjoy a regular trip out to meet up with friendly faces in an informal setting call Pat Bramwell on 07722 078030. Transport can be provided if needed and the event is free though a small donation welcome from those who can afford it.

Lymm Youth and Community Centre was saved from closure by a dedicated local team almost twelve years ago now and has gone from strength to strength with a huge range of activities taking place throughout the week. New volunteers are always very welcome to help support events including fundraisers. Find out more at www.lymmyca.co.uk.
