BUS Lane fines across Warrington are set to increase from £60 to £70 from the end of May – but fines will be discounted by 50% if paid within 21 days.
Warrington Borough Council has given notice in accordance with Sections 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 in accordance with The Civil Enforcement of Road Traffic Contraventions (Approved Devices, Charging Guidelines and General Provisions) (England) Regulations 2022 made under the Traffic Management Act 2004 have set the following charges in relation to Bus Lane contraventions: –
(a) A penalty charge of £70 on the issue of a Penalty Charge (PCN) for a Bus Lane contravention in accordance with The Civil Enforcement of Road Traffic Contraventions (Approved Devices, Charging Guidelines and General Provisions) (England) Regulations 2022, but discounted by 50% if payment is received within 21 days of the issue of the PCN;
(b) On the issue of a “Charge Certificate” in accordance with The Civil Enforcement of Road Traffic Contraventions (Approved Devices, Charging Guidelines and General Provisions) (England) Regulations 2022, the penalty charge shall be increased by 50%.
The above charges are to take effect from 31st May 2022 and the charges indicated above will apply across the whole of the borough of Warrington from this date.
Earlier this year the council provided an amnesty on hundreds of fines on the Academy Street and Scotland Road bus gate, bus lane, after motorists complained new signage was misleading.
