A community has rallied after an act of vandalism at a Forest Park School in Warrington over the weekend.

The Forest Park School at Penketh South Community Primary School was targeted by vandals who started a fire and smashed up wooden furniture on Saturday night.

Now the local community has rallied to help with more than £1,600 already raised via a crowding funding page to help repair the damage, while the school is now seeking help to catch those responsible.
Appealing for help the school has posted on social media:

“You may have heard last night that our Forest School was vandalised. As you can imagine we are very sad and angry…if you have any information at all we would really appreciate you contacting ourselves or the police even anonymously…
Here is the incident number Your reference is IML-1263311 and your Crime/Occurrence number is 22000313418. Further general information can be found at www.askthe.police.uk or at www.cheshire.police.uk along with our Privacy Policy.
One thing that has put a smile on our faces is how amazing this community is 👍🏻 The support we have received in such a short time is incredible! This ranges from volunteering to help to setting up a fundraising page we truly appreciate it. THANK YOU! I’m sure with this support we will be able to make our Forest School even better than it was 😁”

At around 9:15 pm on Saturday night one crew from Penketh was called out to reports of a deliberate fire within the grounds of the primary school in Finlay Avenue, Penketh.
The crew used a small hand appliance to extinguish the fire which had been started on a play area. Police were called to inform them of the damage caused.

A Crowdfunding page has now been set up, with more than £1,600 already raised, stating:”On Saturday 7th May a group of youths broke into Penketh South Primary School, they smashed up the Forrest School equipment and set fire to it.
The whole school uses this equipment on a weekly basis and it means a great deal to everyone there!
It isn’t fair that all the children at the school should miss out because of the bad choices of a select few people and insurance money could take a very long time.”
