  1. It’s hardly surprising that the figures for the number of positive cases has fallen now that the Government has stopped providing free LFT kits. Don’t get me wrong, I agree that they can’t continue to keep providing them for free. But to suggest that the transmission rate is falling rather than the likelihood of less people conducting testing is extremely misleading.

    • If you check out our regular updates you will see they include the fact that testing is falling which as you say is only to be expected. But we can only work with the figures we have and we can’t report that rates are not falling when the figures show they are – testing or not.
The key data, which we report most days is the hospital figures which have also thankfully been falling recently, although still high.
You will also see in the report that rates have increased in four areas – despite reduced testing. COVID is here forever. We just need to live with it and follow advice to the best of our ability while living our lives.

  2. Living with it surely means being able to test and record the test results as was the case up until HMG decided to essentially shut up shop. As things stand only test results reported by GPS will be logged on the NHS app. Any results from privately purchased test kits will not be recorded. This is not the action of a responsible government.
