Chance for three local charities to land on Community Chest spaces on Warrington’s new MONOPOLY board

THREE Warrington charities are being given a chance to feature on the brand new official MONOPOLY game being created for the town.

The charities voted for by the public will each get to star on each of the game’s three Community Chest spaces.

“It’s our way of thanking the public for getting behind the brand new Warrington MONOPOLY game so very enthusiastically,” says Jennifer Lau, Custom Games Executive at Winning Moves UK, who are producing the game under licensing from Hasbro.

Earlier this month it was announced that Warrington is getting its very own official version of the world’s most game popular board game. The announcement was made at The Golden Gates – being hotly tipped to be the Mayfair on the new board – which will be out in October (2022).

At the time the public was invited to send in general nominations and suggestions for landmarks and organisations to feature in the game. Polling for these general suggestions has now closed. But from Monday polls are reopening until Friday (18th March), specifically for nominations for three charities to star in the game. The public can nominate a charity … also a charity can nominate themselves.

To qualify and be in the running to be selected as one of the three, the charities have to be Warrington-focused and be official charities.

Ms Lau added: “We would like to formally thank each and every person who has sent in nominations so far and as our way of a big thank you, three Warrington charities will now get to star in the game. We feel that charities getting to feature on all of the game’s three Community Chest spaces is a great fit, bearing in mind the ‘community’ aspect of these unique MONOPOLY features.”

In all 30+ Warrington landmarks and favourites will be showcased in the game. Over the last 25 years Winning Moves UK has produced official versions of MONOPOLY .. from Dubai to Dublin and Palm Springs to Sydney. Now the MONOPOLY dice land on Warrington.

Popular in the voting include the Golden Gates, Halliwell Jones Stadium and Walton Hall and Gardens. Warrington Worldwide has got votes too!

Ms Lau added: “Warrington Worldwide got many nominations and could be heading for a square in the game”.

“We are looking to each and every suggestion and thank you everyone for all your nominations. Some landmarks proved hugely popular. There were a few quirky suggestions. We are studying all of them.”

The game will hit the shops this October (2022) – in time for Christmas. Charity nominations are being invited by Winning Moves UK via these two ways: 1. By email to: [email protected] . Or: 2 To the official Warrington MONOPOLY Facebook page. Polls close at 23.59pm on 18th March (2022).
