FIREFIGHTERS rescued a casualty from a house fire at Lymm last night.

The blaze was at Brookfield Cottages, shortly after 7pm and fire engines from Lymm and Stockton Heath went to the scene.

They found one of the occupants in the property suffering from smoke inhalation.

Two crew members, wearing breathing apparatus, carried out the rescue while others used a hose reel jet to tackle the blaze. The casualty was given oxygen and an ambulance was called.

A ventilation unit was used to clear smoke from the property and the loft space and adjoining property were checked for smoke spread.

Following an investigation by a specialist officer it was believed the blaze was started by an ember from an open fire.
