UPDATED: A teenager was arrested in Warrington town centre last night following reports of a male with a machete.
The 19-year-old male was arrested single-handedly by a police officer on Bridge Street on suspicion of possession of a bladed article.
He was arrested and taken into custody for questioning following reports of a male with a machete.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson said:” Officers on regular patrol were made aware at around 11.15pm on Tuesday 8 March of a man believed to have been in possession of a machete on Bridge Street. At no point is the man believed to have made any threats.
“A 19-year-old man, from the Poplars and Hulme area of Warrington, was arrested on suspicion of possessing a bladed article in a public place.
He remains in custody assisting police with their enquiries.”
