FIREFIGHTERS wearing breathing apparatus tackled a kitchen fire at a smoke-filled property in Latchford, Warrington, last night, believed to have been started by a faulty cooker.

At 7.30 pm two crews from Warrington and Lymm were called out to the property on Gainsborough Road, Latchford.

Firefighters used breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet to tackle the flames.

The fire is believed to have been started by a faulty electrical oven. After extinguishing the fire and using a large fan to clear the smoke, the oven was removed from the property.

The resident was unharmed in the incident.
