Special event at Peace Centre to mark International Women’s Day

A special event has been organised at Warrington’s Peace Centre to mark International Women’s Day on Tuesday, March 8.

The event is being hosted by Great Sankey South Cllr. Amanda King, who has helped secure funding from the Safer Streets campaign for the leading North West International Women’s Day event.

The event will open from 11 am until 4 pm at The Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Peace Foundation on Peace Drive in Warrington, which has taken months to plan and is free to attend.

Cllr King said: “We will are focusing on the motivation and inspiration for all women including this year’s International theme #BreakTheBias.

“We have some great women who will be sharing their inspiring stories and achievements including Nicola Palios – Co-Owner of Tranmere Rovers Football Club, Lena Simic – Chair of Liverpool’s Climate Commission and Academic from Edge Hill University who has recently published performance feminist relations book and material to help women who are working in the Arts industry. She will share her international story from Bosnia, USA and along with Naz Rehman, Executive from Wigan Council an inspiring business lady from Pakistan and UK.

“Alison Cullen Director from Warrington Voluntary Action will talk about her plans to build a women’s mentoring solution and how WVA is helping women. Theresa Whitfield and Paula Worthington Warrington Borough Council Officers and key lead for the #SaferStreets Campaign.

“We also have teachers from Priestly College and students. We will also be joined by Creating Adventures and the Beautiful Noise choir. Tickets are free but limited, lunch is provided and special goodies bags. Follow the link and secure your place. You must register using the link below:
