Basement flooded as Storm Franklin arrives with high winds and rain

THE basement of a property at Burtonwood, Warrington was completely flooded early today (Monday) following heavy rain.
A fire crew from Penketh went to the scene in Tan House Lane shortly after 6am and pumped the water out and until it had reached a safe level, not affecting electricity supplies.
Flood alerts remained in force from the Mersey ad Sankey Brook in Warrington and The Bollin in the Lymm area this morning.
But the gale force winds of the early morning were expected to die out as the day went on with the Met Office describing the likely wind as “modwerate.”
But elsewhere, higher winds were expected as Sorm Franklin swept in, following on from Storm Dudley and Storm Eunice.
A yellow weather for wind was still in force for most of England, including Warrington and was expected to remain in force until this afternoon.
Some property damage has been reported across the borough but there have been no reports of casualties.
