Body recovered from River Mersey at Woolston believed to be local man

A body recovered from the River Mersey at Woolston, last Friday is sadly believed to be of a 62-year-old local man.

At around 9.15 am on Friday 11 February, emergency Services were called to reports of a man in the River Mersey, adjacent to Woolston Waste Disposal Centre, Warrington.

Police, fire and ambulance attended and sadly the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The body is believed to be that of a 62-year-old man from Woolston.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and a case file will be prepared for the coroner.
