WARRINGTON Borough Council has relaunched their Supported Lodgings scheme, with three distinct roles now available.
The three roles: Community Carer; Enhanced Supported Lodgings Host and Supported Lodgings Host, differ in terms of the time and skills required.
Want to support a young person whilst making your spare room work for you?
If you’re just looking to offer a bedroom, evening meal and basic support, being a Supported Lodgings Host could be the role for you. This could be ideal for those who work or who have other commitments.
Supported Lodgings hosts receive a minimum of £202 per week when a young person is living with them.
If you feel you could offer a greater level of support for a young person who needs it, you can consider the Enhanced Supported Lodgings Host role. Here, you’ll also help the young person to access support from Warrington’s innovative Lighthouse hub, to further aid their successful transition to independent adulthood. Enhanced Supported Lodgings Hosts will receive a minimum of £272 per week when a young person is living with them.
For those looking for a varied and flexible, but full-time professional role, the Community Carer role could be for you. It’s a hybrid between residential care and fostering, and you will undertake some of both. You’ll build up invaluable relationships with the young people currently in residential care, then go on to foster them when they are ready to live in a family home.
Community Carers will receive a minimum of £673 when a young person is living with them, or a retainer fee of a minimum of £170 per week, plus an hourly rate, when a young person is not living with them and they are building bonds with young people, in working at the Lighthouse.

“The three defined roles have been developed utilising the comprehensive knowledge our staff teams have of the needs of our young people. Now, there is something anyone with a spare room could access, whether they have experience of caring for young people, or simply would like to open their home to help.”
