Golf club’s plans for indoor coaching studio

1

PLANS have been submitted for a golf teaching studio at Warrington’s Poulton Park Golf Club.

The proposal – which has yet to be approved by Warrington Borough Council planners – involves a generally unused part of a practice putting green, adjacent to the current professional’s shop.

It would be a 8m X 6m building which would provide a protected, all-weather, year-round facility for individual practice, coaching and custom fitting of golf clubs by the three golf professionals at the club.

The club says the facility will provide a much improved amenity for members, guests, societies and visitors. It will allow the professionals to offer tuition to ladies and juniors in warmth and comfort and also additional income for the nine-hole club.

Poulton Park Golf Club was established in 1978 and has a challenging parkland layout. It is primarily run by the
members for the members but welcomes a large number of visitors and societies throughout the year.

The facility will be restricted to use by members, their guests, societies and visitors so it is not expected there will be any significant increase in vehicular traffic and minimal, if any, visual impact on neighbours.

It will only be open during the existing opening hours of the professional’s shop.
