Firefighters help rescue woman from car crushed by falling tree

FIREFIGHTERS from Lymm helped rescue a woman from a car crushed by a tree blown down during high winds yesterday, Saturday.

Crews from Cheshire and Greater Manchester were mobilised to help rescue the woman who was sat in her parked vehicle when it crushed by a falling tree on Dunham Road, between Lymm and Altrincham.

Emergency services were called to the incident shortly before noon. Firefighters cut the woman free from the wreckage before giving her first aid.

She then received treatment for her injuries from paramedics. Her injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

The road was closed for several hours during the rescue operation.
