A VETERINARY practice has won planning consent to move into a former furniture store.

Warrington Borough Council planning bosses have granted permission for a change of use of the former Branches furniture store in Wilderspool Causeway.

The store is now vacant following Branches’ move to new, larger premises at Lineva House, in Milner Street, Warrington. Beech House Veterinary Centre will move into the former Branches store.

Planning officers say the change of use will result in only minor changes to the exterior appearance of the Wilderspool Causeway store.

But inside, the veterinary practice will have a large waiting area and reception room, six consulting rooms, lab storage and other rooms on the ground floor.

On the first floor, they will have an administration office, three operating theatres, an x-ray room, an ultrasound room and a dental room, together with a staff overnight restroom.
There will be a maximum of 19 staff working on the premises, including five veterinary surgeons, three registered veterinary nurses, five students and four receptionists.
A maximum number of 10 people will be working on-site at any one time.

Officers say the change of use will result in an expansion of the veterinary practice with no detriment to the character of the area or local residential amenity.
