Fire crews called out to tackle gas hob and bin fires

FIREFIGHTERS were called out last night to reports of a fire at a property in Gorse Covert and a bin fire at Orford.

Shortly before 8 pm, two fire crews from Warrington and Eccles were called following reports of a fire at a property on Darnaway Close, Gorse Covert.

On arrival, the crews found a small fire on a gas hob. One hose reel jet was used to extinguish the flames.

The gas and electricity supply to the property has been isolated.

Firefighters were in attendance for around one hour.

Then shortly after 11.30 pm, firefighters from Warrington were called following reports of a fire in the open on Avery Close, Orford.

On arrival, the crew found a small bin well alight.

A water backpack was used to extinguish the flames.
