Man taken to safety after police incident on Winwick Street

A man has been taken to a place of safety following a police incident that resulted in the closure of Winwick Street, Warrington, earlier today.

The road was closed following concerns for the man’s safety.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “At 12.20pm today, Thursday 23 December, police were called to reports of concerns for the welfare of a man who had left premises on Norris Street, Warrington.

“Police attended the address and following a search of the area the man was located on a railway Winwick Street at around 1.20pm – leading to the closure of Winwick Street and Midland Way.

“After engaging with officers the man came down from the bridge at around 2.40pm and has been taken to safety.”

All closures have now been lifted.
