House-in-multiple occupation plan gets the go-ahead

PLANS to increase the size of a house-in-multiple occupation so it can take one additional resident have been given the all-clear by Warrington planners.

The semi-detached property in Orford Green, Orford, will be able to accommodate seven residents instead of six.

Fourteen neighbours objected the scheme, but two others supported it.

Warrington Borough Council’s development management committee was told that work not requiring planning consent had already been carried out, including converting an existing garage into two en-suite bedrooms and a kitchen. Prior to this work, the property had stood empty and deteriorating for some time.

The objections claimed they had been given insufficient time to respond, that work had started without council involvement, there would be parking problems, noise and disturbance.
They suggested that because there would be seven double rooms there could be 14 residents.

Officers recommended the scheme be approved and argued that the addition of one extra resident would not result in any significant impact on comings and goings in what was mainly a residential area.
