Rugby club wins approval for floodlighting on training ground

CROSFIELDS Rugby Club has won planning permission for floodlighting at its training ground at Hood Lane Recreation Ground, Warrington.

The four floodlights will not provide lighting appropriate for matches and are intended for training only.
But they will enable the club to progress its plans to increase sports participation in the area during the winter months and introduce more teams, including touch rugby, women’s rugby and increased participation b existing youth players.
There were no objections from the public or local councillors.
Planning officers noted the proposed development would be 150m from the nearest houses. It would be visible from some properties in Hood Lane and from the A57 Sankey Way.
But it was not considered it would have any adverse impact on residents or road users, nor the nearby St Gregory’s RC High School.
Operation of the floodlights would be controlled from the adjacent clubhouse.
The application was supported by the Rugby Football League.
