Householders extinguish kitchen fire themselves

OCCUPANTS of a house at Warrington extinguished a kitchen fire themselves before firefighters could reach the scene.
The blaze was at a property in Poplars Avenue, Orford last night and was caused by unattended cooking.
Fire crews from Warrington and Lymm went to the scene by found the occupants had tackled the blaze themselves and extinguished the flames.
However, the crews used a ventilation unit to clear smoke from the premises. They were at the scene for about 15 minutes.
Earlier, a fire engine from Birchwood went to a blaze to extinguish a small bonfire at a house in Hallfields Road, Orford. They were at the scene for about 20 minutes
