COVID-19 infection rates continue to rise with 160 new cases

WHILE no further COVID-19 deaths have been reported at Warrington Hospital infection rates continue to rise with another 160 new cases in the town.

The 160 (158) new cases reported by Public Health England, takes the total number of cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 30,672 (30,512).



While no further deaths have been reported inpatient numbers have risen slightly from 31-32 since yesterday, while a further four patients have been discharged.
Infection rates in Warrington for the last seven days have risen again slightly to an average of 841 (840) – 401.6 (401.2) per 100,000 population over a seven-day period which have continued to rise above the national average of 343.9 (348.4) per 100,000, which have fallen again.
Meanwhile, the UK has recorded 39,851 new COVID cases and 143 coronavirus-related deaths in the latest 24-hour period.
It is the highest number of daily infections since 6 September – when 41,192 were reported.
A total of 49,035,877 people in the UK have now received a first dose of a coronavirus vaccine after 41,347 had their first jab on Tuesday.

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 508 (508) 242.6 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 204.7.
The total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate in Warrington reported by Public Health England in all settings is 590 (590).

Across the UK the daily number of COVID-19 associated UK deaths reported on Wednesday, October 6 2021 was 143 (166), taking the total number of deaths to 137,295 (137,152).
The daily number of lab-confirmed UK cases was 39,851 (33,869), taking the total number to 8,006,660 (7,967,985).
Across the country, there are 6,836 (6,747) patients currently in hospital and 800 (769) on ventilation.
