Planners approve house extension on council land

PLANNING chiefs at Warrington have approved a house extension – even though it encroaches on to adjoining borough council-owned land.

Members of the borough’s development management committee were told the land in question was already within the curtilage of the house in Colwyn Close, Burtonwood.

It seemed likely that this had been the situation for 10 years, which meant it was lawful.
One neighbour had expressed concern that as a result of the scheme encroaching on to council-owned land, trees could be lost.
The meeting was told development would involve a single-storey rear extension and garage conversions which would form a bedroom and bathroom as well as a dining room.
The proposals would be located entirely to the rear elevation of the property so would not be visible from public vantage points along Colwyn Close.
They would harmonise with the house and other adjoining properties.
Burtonwood and Westbrook Parish Council had raised no objections.
