THREE Latchford Albion players are set to win representative honours this Saturday (September 11) when they will be in the England Community Lions under 20s squad to play Scotland RLFC.
Matthew Nash, Charlie McCurrie and Matthew Ellis have been selected for the squad for the game, to be played at Leigh Miners Rangers RLFC, kick off 11.45am.
The three players have played an important part in helping Latchford top the Division One table this season.
Nash is the leading try scorer in the league this season registering an impressive 17 tries in only 13 games, including some great solo tries, as well as a personal haul of four tries in a recent game against Haydock.
McCurrie has also been in fine form, often coming up with crucial scores, or making a game changing play. And has caused countless issues for opposing defences.
Ellis has shown a great level of consistency from the scrum half role, showing experience beyond his years when guiding Albion skilfully around the park, and his ability to spot a gap has certainly helped Latchford’s cause this season.
Albion coach Martyn Ellis said: “The accolades are the result of two years of consistently high levels of performance from all three players. Even with an enforced delay due to Covid, the lads have just continued where they left off, and everyone at the club is proud of the recognition they have achieved. I have no doubt that if they take to the field they will offer the side something special and I know a lot of the lads will be there to cheer them on.”
