WARRINGTON Youth Club has paid tribute to “Friend, Mentor, Fundraiser, Role Model, Coach and Hero” Nick Hopkinson MBE who sadly died during the early hours of Thursday morning.

Nick, who was recently High Sheriff of Cheshire, had been a huge supporter of the youth club for the past 12 years and instrumental in the ongoing work to create a new multi-million pound Youth Zone in the town.

Paying tribute Warrington Youth Club Chief Executive Dave McNicholl said: “We were awoken on Thursday morning to the awful news that Nick ‘Hoppy’ Hopkinson had passed away.
“Nick and the Hopkinson family have been huge supporters of Bolton Lads and Girls Club for many decades and over the past 12 years of Warrington Youth Club. Through the tenacity, direction, support, love, kindness and fundraising that Nick has shown to the children and young people of Warrington we are a few months away from opening Warrington Youth Zone.
“It is devastating to know that Nick will not be able to walk around the new facility and see exactly how his tireless commitment has created a legacy for many future generations of children and young people.
“Nick’s boundless drive to support, encourage and guide vulnerable children and young people has changed the lives of 1,000’s of people and in many cases saved lives. Whilst we are all thinking about Nick and missing him dearly, our thoughts prayers and deepest sympathy are with Lesley, Max, Oliver, Toby and their families during this incredibly difficult time.
“We will strive to provide the very best opportunities and activities to support children and young people from across Warrington, knowing that Nick will be watching over us all.
“Sleep well Nick xxx”
