UPDATED: TWO lanes of the M6 Southbound at Winwick have been closed with seven-mile tailbacks following reports that a crane hit a bridge earlier this morning with a large spillage in another incident adding to delays.
Congestion is stretching up to seven to Junction 25 with a seperate incident involving a large spillage adding to delays of up to 90 minutes..
North West Motorway Police are warning motorists to allow for extra journey time and to avoid the area while the incident is dealt with.
Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and other emergency response agencies are currently at the scene.
As of 12 noon delays of an hour were being reported.
