FORMER High Sheriff of Cheshire Nick Hopkinson MBE has sadly died after a battle with cancer.

Known by many as “Hoppy” he was a great ambassador for Warrington Youth Club and one of those leading the campaign to create the new Youth Zone currently being built in Warrington.

A successful businessman before becoming High Sheriff last year, he became a supporter of various good causes and described himself as a “survivor” of cancer after being diagnosed with liver cancer.
He continued to live life to the full and was an inspiration to many people.
He is survived by his wife Lesley, three sons and three grandchildren.
His sudden death aged 61, at 2 am this morning was announced on his social media page where many tributes were posted by his friends.
One post read:

The saddest of days, the world really has lost a true gentleman who changed so many lives and encouraged us all to do the same, the reason I and so many others became volunteers and raised money for BLGC and Warrington youth zone as well as lots of other charities.
He truly believed the children are the future ❤️
RIP Hoppy Man gone far too soon 💔

Today my friend died. After his financial success, he dedicated his life to setting up youth centres and working for charitable causes. One remembrance on his post said ‘ you saved my life. you will always be my hero’. Adieu Hoppy Man, thank you for teaching me about living life, choosing to live it large, for the laughs and the all too short friendship. Lesley, you are in our thoughts and anything we can do, we will. Love to you.
