AFTER successfully removing a traveller encampment from recreation land at Croft on Monday evening, Warrington Borough Council is now dealing with an encampment at Gorse Covert.

The group encamped at Croft Youth and Activity Centre were served notice to move which they failed to adhere to and remained at the location beyond Friday 20 August.

Cheshire Police authorised the use of Section 61 powers and ensured the group left yesterday, Monday evening.
A borough council spokesperson said: “We received reports of an unauthorised encampment on Gorse Covert Road, adjacent to Fisherfield Drive.
“An officer will be attending as soon as possible to conduct an initial assessment and welfare checks.”
