POLICE and Crime Commissioner John Dwyer has been shocked by the extent of fly-tipping on the streets of Warrington.

Mr Dwyer was taken on a tour of streets in the Howley and Fairfield area of the town by Warrington borough councillors Tony Higgins and Sagheer Zaman.
They showed the commissioner alleyways behind Orford Lane and the problems residents are currently experiencing because of fly-tipping.

However, these issues are exacerbated when it appears that the waste being dumped is from those who live locally.
Mr Dwyer said: “Seeing the mess the fly-tippers have left behind these residential properties is shocking. The problems that this mess could lead to, such as anti-social behaviour, criminal damage, not to mention the environmental impacts, could have a negative effect on the residents here.
” I’ll speak to the chief constable and see what action can be taken to deter fly-tippers not only in Warrington but across the county, as the issue seems to have increased due to the pandemic.”
Cllr Tony Higgins said: “It was good to meet with the police commissioner and have the opportunity to discuss face to face the problem of fly-tipping in Fairfield and Howley. Residents are rightly concerned about such criminal activities and its impact on the local community.
“As the cabinet member responsible for community I will be looking to build on our existing relationship with the local policing team to support residents against such activities”.
