A STUNNING second half performance saw Albion rack up a 60-6 victory over Bury Broncos as they recorded their sixth win in a row to maintain their six point lead at the top of the NWML Division One table.
The opening stages showed no signs of what was to unfold, as the visitors started the game brightly, and opened the scoring on 10 minutes with a converted try.
It was 25 minutes before Latchford opened their account for the afternoon. Following good yards made by Jamie Birchall, and then James Yates, stand off Matty Rudd dummied his way through a retreating defence and scored under the posts, which he duly converted.
The hosts took the lead shortly after. Scrum half Matty Ellis’ well timed pass set Matty Nash free, and he raced in from 20 yards out.
On the stroke of half time Albion extended their lead further with a great team try. Ellis and Nash linked up again before the ball was worked to supporting full back Alex Davies who raced over to score, Rudds conversion seeing the end of the first half’s proceedings with the hosts in control of the game on 16-6.
The second half was a more one sided affair, with Albion stepping up a gear and causing problems for a tiring Bury defence.

The game was over as a contest in the opening 10 minutes of the half when, impressive second row, Charlie McCurrie registered two quick fire tries, the second when he showed great footwork to step inside the opposition full back to cross under the posts.
Sam Dobson was next to score. Spotting a gap around the play of the ball, he cleverly dummied his was through and raced 40 yards unopposed to extend the lead further.
An Ellis kick was then gathered by captain Daniel Brown who continued his recent try scoring run with a converted try.
Rudd added his second try shortly after, this time supporting a great break by centre Ben Harper to cross.
Another strong McCurrie run was ably supported by Jamie Birchall who was next to
score for the hosts.
The scoring continued at will, and next to cross was wing Gareth Fairhurst, who showed great strength to hold off the oncoming defence to score out wide in the corner.
Fittingly it was Albion’s man of the match Matty Nash (pictured), who ended the scoring for the afternoon racing forty yards for a fine solo try.
Matty Rudd added six second half conversions, to leave him with a personal haul of 24 points, but it was a fine display throughout the side in an impressive victory.
This Saturday Albion make the trip to Oldham St Anne’s, kick off 2.30pm
