Traffic disruption as highway improvements start at Lumb Brook Road/Stockton Lane

HIGHWAY improvements are underway on Lumb Brook Road and Stockton Lane, Grappenhall, causing traffic disruption in the area.

Warrington Borough Council has made an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be as follows:



Prohibition of Driving: Lumb Brook Road (Northbound) – From its junction with Stockton Lane to its junction with Chester Road/Grappenhall Road.
Prohibition of Right Turn: Stockton Lane – To prohibit any vehicle proceeding on Stockton Lane from making a right hand turn into Lumb Brook Road.
The Order will be effective from 26th July 2021 and the restrictions will be operative in two phases. Phase 1 is underway until 3rd September 2021 and Phase 2 will be effective from 18th October 2021 to 29th November 2021. The restrictions will be in place when signed on site. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works.
The alternative routes are as follows: Lumb Brook Road (northbound) via Lumb Brook Road, Witherwin Avenue, Broom Avenue, Lyons Lane, A49 London Road, A56 Grappenhall Road and Chester Road; Stockton Lane via Lumb Brook Road, Witherwin Avenue, Broom Avenue, Lyons Lane, A49 London Road, A56 Grappenhall Road and Chester Road.
The closure is required to facilitate highway improvement works including traffic signal upgrades of Chester Road/Ackers Road/Lumb Brook Road and Stockton Lane and junctions and footway construction.
