RAIN wiped out most cricket in the Warrington area but some teams did manage to beat the weather – if not their opponents!
Appleton travelled to Bredbury St Marks and hit 142-7 in 36 overs in a shortened game. Chris Morrison dominated the innings with a fine 80.
But the home side hit off the runs in 33 overs for the loss of four wickets to take the spoils.
Grappenhall 2nd’s game with Timperley was abandoned as a draw after Timperley had hit 163-5 in 20 overs, Stanley Pennington taking 3-25. Grappers were 54-1, Iain Wright, 23, when the rain brought and end to the proceedings after eight overs.
Lymm Oughtrington Park took on Mobberley who hit 180-6 in 40 overs, Anthony Spaven taking 4-44. Lymm could only muster 118-7 in 32 overs, Kuntal Desai top scoring with 29 and Dave Evans hitting 26.
