Tour of Britain road closures in Warrington

VARIOUS road closures will be implemented across Warrington for the Tour of Britain cycling event which passes through the town on September 9.

Warrington Borough Council intends to make an Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and of all other enabling powers. The effect of which will be to introduce the following:-

Prohibition of Driving (Between the hours of 5am and 8pm): Sankey Street from Parker Street to Bold Street; Bold Street from Sankey Street to Palmyra Square South; Parker Street from Sankey Street to White Street; Arpley Street from Sankey Street for 70m in a southerly direction; Hanover Street from Arpley Street to Winmarleigh Street; Museum Street from Arpley Street to Winmarleigh Street; Winmarleigh Street from Sankey Street to Museum Street; Springfield Street Passageway gable of 1; Springfield Street Passageway rear of 1 to 15; Palmyra Square South from Winmarleigh Street to Bold Street; Palmyra Square North from Springfield Street to Bold Street; Springfield Street from Sankey Street to Palmyra Square South.
Prohibition of Driving (Between the hours of 1pm and 4:30pm): Sankey Way from Priestley Street to Liverpool Road; Liverpool Road from Sankey Way to Sankey Street; Parker Street from Sankey Street to Wilson Patten Street; Wilson Patten Street from Parker Street to Bridge Foot; Bridge Foot from Wilson Patten Street to Bridge Street; Slutchers Lane from Wilson Patten Street to Chester Road.
Prohibition of Driving (Between the hours of 1:30pm and 3pm): Barleycastle Lane from the borough boundary with Cheshire East to Grappenhall Lane; Grappenhall Lane from Barleycastle Road to Stretton Road; Stretton Road from Grappenhall Lane to Blackcap Road; Blackcap Road from Stretton Road to Dipping Brook Avenue; Dipping Brook Avenue from Blackcap Road to Longwood Road; Longwood Road from Dipping Brook Avenue to London Road; London Road from Longwood Road to Grappenhall Road; Grappenhall Road from London Road to Chester Road; Chester Road from Grappenhall Road to Ackers Road; Ackers Road from Chester Road to Cantilever South West Approach; Cantilever South West Approach from Ackers Road to Cantilever South East Approach; Cantilever South East Approach from Cantilever South West Approach to Cantilever Bridge; Cantilever Bridge from Cantilever South East Approach to Cantilever North West Approach; Cantilever North West Approach from Cantilever Bridge to Station Road; Station Road from Cantilever North West Approach to Knutsford Road.
Prohibition of Driving (Between the hours of 2pm and 4:30pm): Knutsford Road from Station Road to Kingsway South; Kingsway South from Knutsford Road to Kingsway North; Kingsway North from Kingsway South to Manchester Road; Manchester Road from Kingsway North to Padgate Lane; Padgate Lane from Manchester Road to Marsh House Lane; Marsh House Lane from Padgate Lane to Orford Lane; Orford Lane from Marsh House Lane to Longford Street; Longford Street from Orford Lane to Winwick Road; Winwick Road from Longford Street to Pinners Brow; Pinners Brow from Winwick Road to Winwick Street; Winwick Street from Pinners Brow to Tanners Lane; Tanners Lane from Winwick Street to Froghall Lane; Froghall Lane from Tanners Lane to Priestley Street; Priestley Street from Froghall Lane to Sankey Way; Midland Way from Brick Street to Froghall Lane.
Prohibition of Stopping (Clearway) (Between the hours of 9am and 4pm): London Road from Mitchell Street to Grappenhall Road; Knutsford Road from Station Road to Kingsway South; Kingsway South from Knutsford Road to Kingsway North; Kingsway North from Kingsway South to Manchester Road; Manchester Road from Kingsway North to Padgate Lane; Padgate Lane from Manchester Road to Marsh House Lane; Marsh House Lane from Padgate Lane to Orford Lane; Orford Lane from Marsh House Lane to Longford Street; Longford Street from Orford Lane to Winwick Road; Winwick Road from Longford Street to Pinners Brow; Pinners Brow from Winwick Road to Winwick Street; Winwick Street from Pinners Brow to Tanners Lane; Tanners Lane from Winwick Street to Froghall Lane; Froghall Lane from Tanners Lane to Priestley Street; Priestley Street from Froghall Lane to Sankey Way; Sankey Way from Priestley Street to Liverpool Road; Liverpool Road from Sankey Way to Sankey Street.
Temporary Suspension of existing Traffic Regulation Orders:
1. The Borough of Warrington (Bank Quay General Improvement Area) (Traffic Regulation) Order 1977 in so far as it relates to Schedule II (One Way) as follows: Dixon Street (White Street to passage north of No. 5 Dixon Street) – South to North.
2. The Borough of Warrington (Traffic Management) (Town Centre Pedestrian Zone) (Movement) Order 2018 in so far as it relates to Schedule 4 – One Way as follows: Palmyra Square North – Its entire length – West to East; Springfield Street – Between Sankey Street and Palmyra Square North – North to South.
3. The Borough of Warrington (Town Centre Traffic Management Scheme) (No. 1) Order 1979 in so far as it relates to Schedule 2 (One-Way Traffic) as follows: Bold Street – from Palmyra Square North to Palmyra Square South – North to South.
The Order will be effective from 9th September 2021 when the relevant signs are in place on site. Access will be under the control of the event organiser for the duration of the event. The restrictions are required to facilitate the Tour of Britain.
