Town centre road works scheduled for September

WARRINGTON town centre road works for carriageway resurfacing are scheduled to get underway in September.

Warrington Borough Council intends to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be as follows: –



Temporary Prohibition of Driving & Clearway: St Austins Lane for its entire length; Cairo Street from St Austins Lane for 50 metres; Barbauld Street from Rylands Street to Wilson Patten Street.
Temporary Suspension of The Borough of Warrington (Covid-19 Response) (Various Prohibitions, Restrictions, Revocations & Suspensions in Town Centre) Temporary Order 2020 in so far as it relates to Schedule 2 – Prohibition of Motor Vehicles as follows: Barbauld Street (Southbound only) – From its junction with Stanley Street to its junction with Wilson Patten Street.
Temporary Suspension of The Borough of Warrington (Bridge Street Quarter) (Traffic Management) (Movement) Order 2017 in so far as it relates to Schedule 6 – Bus Lane including Pedal Cycles, Hackney Carriages and Licensed Hire Private Hire Vehicles 5am to 9pm as follows: All that length of the north west side of Academy Way which extends from its junction with Bridge Street to its junction with Moulders Lane, in an easterly direction (Only suspended during the closure of Barbauld Street).
The Order will be effective from 13th September 2021 for 5 weeks between 7pm and 1am, when signed on site. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works. The alternative route will be via Bold Street, Suez Street, Rylands Street, Barbauld Street or via Barbauld Street, Wilson Patten Street, Bridgefoot, Mersey Street, Bridgefoot, Wilson Patten Street, Winmarleigh Street, Museum Street or via Bold Street, Wilson Patten Street, Barbauld Street. The restrictions are required for carriageway surfacing.
