More than 2,000 school pupils self-isolating as COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Warrington

MORE than 2,000 Warrington school children are now self-isolating, with 49 schools affected, as COVID-19 cases continue to rise in the town with another 87 new cases confirmed.

Meanwhile, with another 27,989 new cases across the UK, the highest since January, Prime Minister Boris Johnson has warned “there may be some things we have to do” beyond planned easing of the remaining COVID restrictions on July.



The 87 (90) new COVID-19 cases take the total number of confirmed cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 19,802 (19,715).
Cases in Warrington for the last seven days have risen again, with 579 (558) – 275.7 (265.7) per 100,000 population over a seven-day period– well above the national rate of 168.6 (157) per 100,000, which also continues to rise.

Current inpatients as of Thursday, July 1 (confirmed positive result – 14 days or less from first positive sample) – 8 (7) including 0 (1) in ICU.
