Curtain comes down on “stop-start” Warrington Junior and Girls Football season

WITH the COVID Pandemic creating a ‘stop – start’ year, the Warrington Junior Football League and Warrington Girls Football League, managed a non-competitive season which came to a finale on Sunday, 27 June 2021 at Warrington Rylands.

Over 12,000 players compete in the WJFL and the WGFL, from Under 7’s through to the Under 18’s, and their season culminated in a number of Cup Finals played over a series of weekends at both Earlstowne Athletic and Warrington Rylands grounds.
The younger sides were hosted by Earlstowne while the older teams travelled to Warrington Rylands. All proceeds from programme sales have been donated to The Rose Blossom Trust who are raising awareness for children who suffer from Dravet Syndrome
The Chairman and CEO, Paul Dawson, thanked all the referees, league officials, club officials, managers and players for their determination to complete this season.
Next year promises to be another memorable one with a number of applications already received to join the leagues.
There will be two new leagues – Warrington Saturday League for ages 14 and above and also a new Development League
All participating players from this season will receive a medal.
