UPDATED: MANCHESTER Road has now re-opened after six pumps were called out to tackle a garage blaze at a detached property in Woolston earlier today, Tuesday.
Fire crews from across the area were called out at 10.45 am this morning, following reports of a garage fire at a detached property on Manchester Road, near Weir Lane.
On arrival the crews found one detached garage well alight.
Police are also at the scene carrying out traffic management and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
Residents are also being advised to keep their windows closed as asbestos could be involved.
Six fire engines attended – one from Warrington, one from Birchwood, one from Stockton Heath, one from Knutsford, one from Lymm and One from Penketh
Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used three hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.
All utilities to the building were isolated.
The crews checked for hot spots and damped down the area.
