WARRINGTON and Halton Green Party is marking Pride month with a call for greater acceptance of LGBT+ people in the community.
Group leader Lyndsay McAteer said: “Pride is a celebration, whilst at the same time, it is also a political protest. We want our human rights to be protected and enshrined at every level of society.
“We want an end to hate crime and discrimination. We are calling for an immediate ban to conversion therapies. This government want to delay this process whilst they embark on a consultation exercise. This is not acceptable. Conversion therapies are dangerous and insidious.”
Attacks on the trans community will not be tolerated, she added.
“The Green Party campaigns for the rights of trans people to ensure that everyone is treated with respect and dignity.”
