Council will work with travellers to minimise impact of temporary encampment

WARRINGTON Borough Council says it will work with travellers to minimise the impact of an encampment given temporary permission on Silver Lane at Risley, due to an ongoing health issue.

Local residents have raised concerns over litter issues left at the site which has been occupied twice recently, while local councillors have been calling for the borough council to come up with a permanent solution to ongoing
traveller issues in the town.

The Silver Lane site has been used by travellers on numerous occasions in recent years – and even a locked barrier has failked to prevent access.
A Warrington Borough Council spokesperson said: “We will work with the travellers to minimise the impact of the encampment with respect to litter and provide the appropriate facilities.
“We cannot comment on the length of stay, as this will be influenced by the current health issue.”

  1. An absolute disgrace yet again. WBC has failed consistently for over 30 years to address this blight on the town. By working with the travellers I guess they mean they’ll clear up after they’ve gone AGAIN at council tax payers expense.
