Eight new COVID-19 cases confirmed in Warrington as UK records zero deaths for first time since start of pandemic

WHILE UK has reported zero daily COVID-19-related deaths for the first time since the pandemic began, eight new cases have been confirmed in Warrington, with infection rates continuing to rise in the town.

The latest figures come after a bank holiday weekend when the number of deaths and cases can be lower due to reporting lags.



The last time there was zero deaths was on March 7, 2020, before the first lockdown.
Meanwhile, another eight (8) new COVID-19 cases were reported in Warrington in the latest daily update from Public Health England. The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases reported in Warrington since the start of the pandemic is 17,989 (17,981).
Cases in Warrington for the last seven days have risen again, with 30 (22) – 14.3 (10.5) per 100,000 population over a seven-day period– but are still below half the national rate of 30.3 (28.6) per 100,000, which continues to rise.
Warrington & Halton Hospitals have temporarily suspended provided information due to a data validation exercise.
There have been no reported deaths at the hospital since April 27th.
There have been a total of 497 COVID-related deaths at the hospital since the start of the pandemic.

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 485 (485) 230.9 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 191.3
The total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate in Warrington reported by Public Health England in all settings is now 567 (567).

Across the UK the daily number of COVID-19 associated UK deaths reported on Tuesday, June 2nd 2021 was 0 (1), taking the total number of deaths to 127,782 (127,782).
The daily number of lab-confirmed UK cases was 3,165 (3,383), taking the total number to 4,490,438 (4,487,339).
Across the country, there are 870 (870) patients currently in hospital and 120 (120) on ventilation.
