Warrington cricket hit by the weather again

FOR a second week in succession, rain devasted the Warrington cricket programme, with the majority of matches being abandoned without a ball being bowled.
But some matches were played – most of them shortened by rain. In the RSK Cheshire County League, Grappenhall 3rd – whose trip to Toft was on Sunday – went down by one wicket in a keenly contested game.
Grappers batted first and were all out for 109, Stephen Dickson top scoring with 23. Toft also struggled against the bowling of Ben Bravington 3-17 and Stanley Pennington, 3-24 but reached their target with their last pair at the wicket.


Warrington 2nd travelled to Stockport Georgians where the home side batted first and hit 200-8, Shoaib Chattha taking 3-37 and Lohith Muniraju 3-37.
In a shortened game, Warrington could only reach 144-4, Nick Andrew hitting 34 and James Lewis 47 not out.
Lymm Oughtrington Park 2nd managed to get in a game – and a valuable victory – hosting Northwich.
The visitors hit 136, Graham Waumsley taking 4-34 and Lymm hit 139-3, Aatrayo Daw hitting 44.
Glazebury 2nd travelled to Tranmere Victoria only to suffer a heavy defeat. The home side hit 164-9, David Nicholson taking 4-22. Glazebury were rolled over for 52, with only skipper Alex Wort, 17 and last man Matthew Brunt, 14, reaching double figures.
Appleton 3rd visited Europa Exiles where the home side batted first and h it 174 for the loss of only one wicket. Appleton replied with 146-7, Jonathan Owen, 50 and Sam Thorley, 31.
